CURRENT EXHIBITION

By Isa Aalderink

  AMALGAMATION

The Mandarin Tree is excited to announce our final exhibition of this year!

Amalgamation by Isaac Weston and Claudia Aalderink is opening on 7 December in our exhibition room at the gallery.

In this first collaborative show Isaac Weston and Claudia Aalderink have produced works in response to the textural qualities of the reclaimed materials of their medium as well as mirroring each other's works to create a cohesive body of work that create visual synergy.

Isaac works predominately with copper, drawing out the organic beauty of this medium by incorporating acids, salts and sunlight. The alchemy of this creative process creates the vibrant coloured patinas synonymous with his artworks.

Claudia meticulously fragments old beehives in a non-symbolic approach. Exploring the subtlety of colour, scale, composition and the textural qualities of the charred recycle beehives to create a new identity of the weathered beehive boxes.

Both artists are working within a reduced visual vocabulary of circles, squares, rectangles, and lines. Through repetition the works evoke thought and emotive content inviting the audience to construct their own meaning these compositions hold.

Amalgamation is open until the 24th of December
