"The essence of a tree removed in the built environment is still there if you knew it. Whenever I make marks in my art I fall in love with them (mostly!). I notice I am almost always drawn to the form of a grid and it feels such a thoughtful meaningful construction. On reflection this is how we live, in rectangular built forms, we write on paper in grid-like ways, we read books and reports, look out windows, move through doors and gates all related to this format."
